Review: Full Steam Ahead by Karen Witemeyer

I've been a huge fan of Karen Witemeyer for over two years now, I've devoured(And loved!) all of her books! This was yet another fun, cute read with a great depth to it and a wonderful faith message! The storyline was so unique, I loved it! I also loved the action, suspense and mystery aspects of the story! Nicole was awesome, I will always relate to a spunky heroine who can take care of herself and hold her own against the men, Nicole was absolutely such a character! And Darius oh my goodness such a great hero, I loved him. In one scene his anguish and guilt over something he had no control over was written so beautifully that it made my heart break for him and nearly brought me to tears! This story also had a wonderfully delightful cast of supporting characters, I really liked them all. Especially Mrs. Wellborn, which isn't surprising because she kept reminding me of Mrs. Potts, one of my favorite characters in the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, if you read this book you'll know what I mean!

I know it wouldn't have been practical to the story but I would have loved to have 'met' Darius' parents, brother and sister in this book! There were also a couple of things that I would have liked a little more closure about, but I loved this book so much that I am giving it five stars all the way!

I don't want to risk giving anything away so I will just say that I absolutely loved this book, it's another Witemeyer book for my keeper shelf! And I can't wait to see what else Karen Witemeyer has in store for us, whatever it is I know I will love it!

I highly recommend that you sail Full Steam Ahead to your nearest bookstore or online retailer and claim  your very own copy of this wonderful adventure! You won't be sorry!

I was honored to receive a review copy of this amazing book from Bethany House publishers, in exchange for my honest review!

  1. Thanks for the great review, Caitlyn. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the story. And yes, there was a bit of Mrs. Potts inspiration going on with Mrs. Wellborn. Ha! Beauty & The Beast is my favorite Disney fairy tale.

Just thought I'd let you know, that there is a follow-up novella in the works. Jacob - the runaway and Darius and Nicole take in - will have his own story told once he is all grown up. The truth of his backstory will be revealed, and of course, we'll give him a happily ever after as well. :-) Be looking for Love on the Mend. It will release as an e-novella on February 3rd. Maybe we'll get you some more closure in one area.

    Have a blessed week!
