Review: Whatever Happens Next by Jaycee Weaver

I am thrilled to share with you my review of Whatever Happens Next by Jaycee Weaver! This book is amazing and I LOVED IT SO MUCH! Be sure to check it out!

About the Book

Growing up in nowhere Oklahoma gave US Air Force vehicle maintainer TSgt Dyson what his momma calls itchy feet. His wanderlust has kept him from romantic entanglements for years, until the day an over-dramatic, strawberry-scented chatterbox slams into him and turns his world upside down.

Jenna Davis was a quintessential good girl, deeply rooted in her family and faith until one mistake three years ago changed everything. Unable to admit her failure, she goes through the motions watching everyone else live their dreams. But it’s hard to find her purpose when opening up to anyone—even God—feels impossible. Then she meets Dyson, who personifies the strong, silent type.

Dyson gets her to open up and begin dreaming again, rebuilding the trust she’s lost in men and especially in herself. But Dyson has something important to tell Jenna, and he knows it’ll be the end of everything they’ve built. After all, how can he ask her to leave everything and everyone behind when he can never stay?

The Everyday Love Series is a contemporary romance series set in Albuquerque, featuring ordinary people in lifelike stories that inspire, uplift, and share hope. Stories in which a very real God shows Himself in everyday ways to carry His people through any circumstance.

My Thoughts:

5 Stars!
Wow! What an absolutely splendid book!
I've read and loved three of this author's novellas in the past, but this was my first time reading one of her full length novels, and I absolutely adored this book from start to finish!
Jenna was such a delight and so much fun to get to know, by the time I finished the book I felt like we were besties! And Dyson, wow what an amazing hero! I loved him so much and he's one of my favorite heroes of all time!
I adore this author's engaging writing style, her books always grab me at the very beginning and continue to hold me spellbound until long after I reach the end!
This book made me laugh out loud, and happy sigh more times than I can count! The faith story was fabulous and touched my heart deeply!
I love that Jaycee Weaver's books have a strong faith story, and it's always so brilliantly written! This author doesn't sugarcoat the hard things in life, and the faith thread in her stories is always refreshingly real, relatable, and life changing, but never preachy! This author's books are the perfect example of my favorite type of faith story to read about!
I totally and completely loved absolutely everything about Whatever Happens Next and cannot wait for this author's next book!
I don't often set seasonal reading goals, but I decided to set one this year. My goal for this Summer is to devour the rest of Jaycee Weaver's backlist, and I'm eagerly anticipating all of them!
Jaycee Weaver is one of my all time favorite authors, and Whatever Happens Next has everything I want in a Christian Contemporary Romance!
I most highly recommend Whatever Happens Next! If you haven't read any of Jaycee Weaver's books yet you need to ASAP!

Review: The Crushing Depths by Dani Pettrey

Today I am over the moon excited to share my review of one of my favorite reads of 2020, The Crushing Depths by Dani Pettrey!
Dani is one of my all time favorite authors, her books never disappoint, and The Crushing Depths is a MUST READ!
This book releases June 30, 2020 pre-order your copy today!

About the Book

They know the power and peril of the ocean.
But as they get closer to the deadly truth . . .
An even greater danger lurks just beneath the surface.

When an accident claims the life of an oil-rig worker, Coast Guard Investigators Rissi Dawson and Mason Rogers are flown to the scene thirty-eight miles from shore. Tensions aboard the rig are high, and the death has everyone on edge. Environmental activists are threatening to do whatever it takes to stop the "plague on the environment" from continuing its work. Meanwhile, rumors are circulating on board about an ancient curse lurking in the depths below.

Mounting evidence shows the death might not have been an accident. Was the man killed by one of the activists or, more frighteningly, a member of his own crew? Rissi and Mason have to sort through not only numerous suspects, but also their own haunted pasts and their attraction to each other.

Just as the case seems about to break open, worse news arrives: a tropical storm has turned their way. Now they're cut off from any rescue--right where the killer wants them.

My Thoughts:

*Blissful sigh!* I'm speechless, in the best way! There is something about Dani Pettrey's books that just sweeps me away into a storyworld that I don't want to leave which is inhabited by characters I don't want to say goodbye to!
Without fail Dani's books are my happy place, and The Crushing Depths was no exception!
I loved Rissi and Mason, and it was an absolute joy to watch their romance bloom! I really liked Rissi in The Killing Tide, and loved her in this book!
I loved her tenacity, and her compassion, and I also love how multifaceted her personality is, my heart broke for everything she had been through but I so admired her courage and bravery! And Mason, oh my stars! Dani Pettrey is known for writing the most amazing chivalrous, protective, gentlemanly, and seriously swoon-worthy heroes of all time, and Mason is a fabulous addition to the list! Seriously, I think every single time he appeared on the page he said or did something that made my heart melt, I LOVED HIM SO MUCH!
I love all the rest of the Coastal Guardians too, though I think Emmy and Logan just might be my faves, I love their dynamic and their banter in this book made me laugh out loud more times than I can count, I can't wait for their story!
There is also a tiny Easter egg in this book that will delight fans of Dani's first series, when I spotted it I started grinning!
I found it fascinating that this story is largely set on an offshore oil platform, I have never read a book set on one of those before and so it was awesome to learn about!
The mystery was layered and complex and so well done!
The suspense was edge-of-your-seat thrilling, and the writing was stellar as always!
The Crushing Depths is a truly captivating read that I loved every minute of and most highly recommend! The Crushing Depths can standalone but I would recommend reading The Killing Tide first if you haven't already because you won't want to miss a moment of the total awesomeness that is the Coastal Guardians series!
The Crushing Depths is definitely one of my favorite reads of 2020, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

About the Book

I, Holiday Brown, have it all. A platinum record. Multi-million dollar home in Manhattan that I share with my two best friends. Life is looking fantastic until my roommate’s brother decides to bunk in our guestroom while his house gets renovated.

W. Emmett Bell has always been the bane of my existence. He’s annoying, stubborn, a know it all, and just might be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. But I refuse to fall for him. Then his sister’s threatened by a stalker and dynamics change. His unwavering faith isn’t quite as self-righteous as I’d always thought, and maybe he has a good side I’ve overlooked all these years.

Or maybe it’s all too much trouble.

The Trouble With Love is the first book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.

My Thoughts:

The Trouble with Love is an amazing read, seriously it's so good and I absolutely loved it!
I loved Holiday and Emmett, Holiday was so likeable and totally relatable, I was cheering her on! Emmett was such a sweetheart, I loved how he helped Holiday to see how much God loves her!
I have never been to New York City, but I am fascinated with stories that are set there, and I loved that NYC is the setting for this series, Toni skillfully brought the city to life and made me feel like I was there!
I loved Tori and Octavia too and I'm super excited to read their stories, especially Octavia's because she's currently my favorite of the three ladies!
I also loved that this book is written in first person.
And I loved the suspense thread that was woven through the story!
The Trouble with Love is a fabulous read! I highly recommend it and I can't wait to read The Truth about Fame.

My Thoughts:

Dana Mentink has penned another winner! Over the past year or so this author has become a favorite of mine, and Secrets Resurfaced did not disappoint! I have been looking forward to Chad's story since the beginning of the series, and wow such a great read!
I loved Chad and Dory, and Ivy was absolutely adorable! It was so great to catch up with Mitch and Jane, Liam and Maggie, and Aunt Ginny and Uncle Gus, as well as loveable dog Jingles, along with the addition of an incredibly sweet puppy named Meatball the supporting cast was stellar as usual, though I would have really enjoyed it if Helen and Sergio had made an appearance.
Secrets Resurfaced is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end!
I love reunion romances and this one was so good, and the ending was totally sigh-worthy!
A perfect ending to a fabulous series!
I'm sad to see this series end but I can't wait to read Dana's next book!

Well, it’s been a wild ride through the Roughwater Cowboy series! Here we are at the end, with youngest brother Chad’s story. Fortunately, the rest of the clan (Mitch, Liam and Helen) are here to lend a hand when the man Chad’s father was jailed for killing comes back to life. Helping out also is Jingles the hapless dog, and a new member of the canine family, three legged Meatball. Throw in a killer on the loose and a secret child, and we’ll have a ‘hold onto your hat’ finish to this series. Thanks for coming along with me! God bless you!

Author: J’nell Ciesielski

Glamour, treachery, and espionage collide when an English socialite rushes to save her sister from the Nazis.

As the daughter of Sir Alfred Whitford, Kat has a certain set of responsibilities. But chasing her wayward sister, Ellie, to Nazi-occupied Paris was never supposed to be one of them. Now accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle that her Nazi boyfriend provides, Ellie has no intention of going back to the shackled life their parents dictate for them—but Kat will stop at nothing to bring her sister home.

Arrested for simply trying to defend himself against a drunken bully, Barrett Anderson is given the option of going to jail or serving out his sentence by training Resistance fighters in Paris. A bar owner serves as the perfect disguise to entertain Nazis at night while training fighters right below their jackboots during the day. Being assigned to watch over two English debutantes is the last thing he needs, but a payout from their father is too tempting to resist. Can Barrett and Kat trust each other long enough to survive, or will their hearts prove more traitorous than the dangers waiting around the corner?

My Thoughts:

Wow, just wow! Such an amazing read! This book is written by a new-to-me-author, I actually own all of her other books and have been wanting to read one of her books for over a year now, but just hadn't gotten around to it! The Socialite is my first of her books, but it most definitely will not be the last! This book is so rich in historical detail that I felt like I had been transported to WWII Nazi occupied Paris!
I love historical romance and this book is full of so many things I love about the genre, including a thread of danger and suspense that leads up to a nail biting last several chapters!
I immediately liked Kat, I admired her bravery and spunkiness, and her willingness to do whatever it took to save her sister! Barrett was such a fun character, and oh so swoon-worthy, I loved him so much and couldn't help smiling every time he was in a scene! The banter between Kat and Barrett was fabulous and had me cracking up more than a few times!
I truly did love this book so much!
The Socialite is a delightful read and definitely one for the keeper shelf! I highly recommend this stunning, gorgeously written book!
I am super excited to dive into J'nell Ciesielski's backlist, and am eagerly anticipating her next book! I'm hoping Ellie will get a book of her own!

More from J’Nell

I blame Pinterest. Too many hours are spent chasing rabbit holes of glorious pictures of fashion from eras gone by, Highlanders in kilts, WWI ambulances, and fairytale castles. One day I was browsing something super important (or possibly escaping from the actual work I was supposed to be doing, er, we’ll never know) and stumbled across a black and white picture of six beautiful girls. Who are these lovely ladies? I wondered. A quick search brought up the Mitford sisters. Six gorgeous daughters born into an aristocratic English family, each girl with a different passion: Diana the fascist, Jessica the communist, Unity the Hitler lover, Nancy the novelist, Deborah the duchess, and Pamela the poultry connoisseur. Whoa. You know dinner time around their family table was interesting. How could such different personalities belong in the same family? What would you do if your sister got moon-eyed over Hitler??

Bam. An idea was born.

In the beginning, my little rebel Ellie was going to be a full-fledged Nazi ideology lover, but she quickly informed me that it wasn’t so much the Nazis or their crazy ideas she loved, but one man in particular. One twisted Nazi who had fallen completely under her spell, and she under his. The ideas of love can often be more difficult to break as Kat finds out when she tries to rescue her naïve sister. Luckily, she has a hunky Sottish bartender to help her while providing a few romantic intentions of his own. With everyone hiding past hurts and true identities, how will they ever hope to find the love they each long for when war rages under the bright lights of Paris? Guess you’ll have to read to find out ;)
